Cottonwood Tucson at a Glance
Cottonwood Tucson treats alcohol and drug addiction, including opioids, prescription drugs, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and synthetic drugs such as spice and bath salts. It also works with process addictions, for example compulsive exercise.
Mental health care is a core part of the program. The team treats depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, grief and loss, and secondary eating concerns such as binge eating and body dysmorphia. Trauma and PTSD receive special attention, including childhood, complex and sexual trauma, through a dedicated trauma program.
Treatment starts with a thorough assessment so that each plan is based on the person's real needs. Clients then take part in individual therapy, group therapy and evidence-based clinical work, supported by holistic practices that care for body, mind and spirit. For people who are unsure what they need, the Cottonwood Assessment Program offers a focused five-day inpatient evaluation.
Levels of care include medical detox with medication support for withdrawal, residential treatment, a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and outpatient services. Relapse prevention planning, alumni meetings and ongoing alumni services help people stay connected after they leave.
Cottonwood runs a specialized track called Tactical Recovery for veterans, active-duty military and first responders, and the center holds PsychArmor "Veteran Ready" certification. A family program helps relatives understand addiction and trauma and take part in the healing process.
The residential campus sits at 4110 West Sweetwater Drive, Tucson, AZ 85745, with outpatient services next door at 4210 West Sweetwater Drive. The grounds include an outdoor pool shaded by palm trees, a walking labyrinth and space for outdoor yoga, giving clients a calm setting away from daily stress.
Cottonwood Tucson works with many major insurance providers, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Aetna, Carelon, Evernorth, First Health, Magellan Health and PNOA. Benefits vary by plan, so coverage should be confirmed with admissions. The center is accredited by CARF, is LegitScript certified and was named by Newsweek among America's Best Addiction Treatment Centers for 2026.
